The whanau, Board of Trustees, staff, children and I would like to welcome you to our website and hope that the information presented gives you an insight into what is important to us as we explore new learning together. Situated in Waima we have a strong connection with our marae, maunga, awa and people.
We value, Whanaungatanga, Ako, Integrity, Manaaki, and Aroha, giving students the support they need to have a voice, and to strengthen their sense of belonging. Our school community is positive, supportive, safe and friendly in which whanau, tamariki, staff, and the wider community interact with, and learn from, each other, contributing to what makes Te Kura o Waima such a great place to be.
We have an amazing group of tamariki who love being part of our learning community and enjoy everything Te Kura o Waima has to offer. We offer our tamariki a wide range of activities to enable them to experience new ideas, to equip them with the skills, ambition and knowledge to become confident and connected 21st Century citizens. Our focus is on student achievement, to inspire every child to excel within our Local Curriculum.
We have three cooperative learning spaces Ruma Tupu Teina years 0 - 2, Ruma Tupu Tuakana years 3-5 and Ruma Puawai years 6 – 8 with friendly, vibrant teachers and teacher aides who provide high quality learning programmes. At Te Kura o Waima we provide an environment which nurtures and meets the individual needs and interests of our tamariki. Our BoT, teachers, teacher assistants, administrator, caretaker/cleaner, whanau and wider community are dedicated to providing the best opportunities for individualised learning in environments that promote leadership, co-operation and a love for learning.
There is a school bus that services our school and the bus route is available to view here. We have a school van that picks up and drops off students from Kaikohe, in the past we have also done this in South Hokianga. Please direct all school bus or van queries to our Principal.
We invite you to visit us and see our staff and amazing tamariki in action. Feel free to contact me if you have any queries.
